How is my Total Portfolio Value calculated?
The Total Portfolio Value represents the total value of the assets you have accumulated on Mesh. This is calculated by adding the current market value of all the assets in your account to your cash balance.
- For the tokens that represent Traditional Instruments (TradFi) which are instruments that are listed on traditional exchanges elsewhere in the world, the market valuation uses the Sell price of the asset, as this would be the theoretical value which you would receive if you were to liquidate the asset today.
- For the crypto tokens, the market valuation uses the average price of all trades on the blockchain for that crypto token in the last 24 hours.
The reason for these two different methodologies is that crypto tokens are a lot more volatile than TradFi instruments and crypto prices may vary greatly throughout the day, while TradFi instruments have much lower volatility.
How is my PnL value calculated?
The profit and loss calculation in your portfolio shows the value of your assets over the full lifetime of your trading account(s). This means from account initiation to today.
Your PnL is calculated as:
A = Market valuation of the portfolio or account today
B = Funding or transfers in (market valuation at time of transfer)
C = Defunding or transfers out (market valuation at time of transfer)
D = Fees
PnL = A - B + C + D
What does the Market Valuation graph represent?
The market valuation graph is a line chart displaying the valuation of your portfolio over time, taking into consideration the transaction history and all asset price fluctuations. It is the representation of your assets’ total market valuation over the full lifetime of your trading account(s)
